Curriculum Implementation Plan
Attached is the current Curriculum Implementation Plan for Levels 1-3 in pdf format.
Gateway's academic curriculum is based on three major foundational elements. The first critical element is the development of the tools of learning, as outlined in a Classical Education. Tools of learning include grammar, logic, and rhetorical skills fundamental to all learning processes. The second element of the curriculum is the Montessori method which will be used through levels 1 and 2 in an open, individually paced environment which grows naturally into the third element -- an integrated, interdisciplinary model. This third critical element in Gateway's curriculum is founded upon the proven fact that students who learn in an integrated environment develop skills of connection and perspective which are more readily applied to the real world.
All skills developed in each level are built upon the skills of the level before, and the gradual integration of health education, technology, life skills, and career education provides for a complete, well-balanced, standards-based education through the 8th grade.
