Enrollment

Admission Procedures (Lottery)

In accordance with state and federal law, admission to Gateway Preparatory Academy is not limited based on ethnicity, national origin, gender, religion, income level, creed, color, disabling condition, proficiency in the English language, or athletic ability. No tuition or fees are charged for attendance at Gateway Preparatory Academy.

The Academy Board will designate specific time periods each year for student enrollment. Gateway Preparatory Academy will enroll an eligible student who submits a timely application, unless the number of applications in a specific enrollment period exceeds the capacity of the Academy program, class, grade level, or the building. If the number of applications exceeds the capacity of a class, grade level, or the building, students shall be selected on a random basis (lottery) from applicants for that class or grade, except that Gateway Preparatory Academy shall give preference as allowed by law on the following basis:

  • First preference in enrollment is given to children of the founding members of Gateway Preparatory Academy, limited to at most 10% of the Academy's total enrollment;
  • Second preference in enrollment is given to siblings of currently or previously enrolled Academy students;
  • If space is available after the aforementioned preferences have been granted, admission will be offered to any other students residing in Utah.

After each application deadline, pupils for any remaining slots will be accepted in order of their lottery position.

All students must have turned 5 years old by September 1st of the school year they are enrolling in.

If an opening in the school occurs while classes are in session and no students remain from the most recent lottery, a notice for applications and an enrollment time period will be announced and applicants enrolled on the same basis as outlined above.

Please fill out either a paper enrollment application form or the online enrollment application. Once you've logged in and filled out the online enrollment application, you can track your application status.

Once your student has been officially accepted for enrollment for the 2008-2009 school year, please complete and return the registration packet.

If your student had been accepted for enrollment as of March and we do not have an enrollment aceptence letter for them, that enrollment spot has been released to another student. Acceptance letters for students previously enrolled that are currently in the "Not Enrolled, No Signed Acceptance Letter" status will be accepted, but those students will only be given an enrollment spot as space is available in their grade.

Registration packets for those who were accepted for enrollment on May 10th are due by June 16th. You must turn in at least the acceptance form and records transfer form by then to assure your student's spot in the school.

We are are currently accepting applications for all grades. The current student application period for the 2008-2009 school year ends June 30th, 2008. Please fill out enrollment applications even for grades that may be already oversubscribed, as there typically will be more enrollment openings before school starts in 2008 due to enrollment plans changing from moving, etc...

While Kindergarten for the 2009-2010 school year is already over two-thirds full from the first open enrollment period, applications are currently still being accepted.

The next open enrollment period for the 2009-2010 school year will end in 2009.
