Director’s Letter March 2012

Dear Gateway Parents,

Happy Spring!

We want to express our thanks to all of you who voted in our school board election. The results are as follows: elected to our board are:
Jill Johnson – treasurer

We especially want to thank John Skougaard and Greg Farnsworth for their willingness to be candidates for our board. As a charter school, your participation and support as parents is critical to our success.  If you want more specific information about the results of our election, please contact Merrit Bowden at school. The next school board meeting will be on April 12 at 7:00 pm

At our last board meeting there was discussion about our school dress code. After a great deal of input it was decided that the dress code would remain the same for the coming school year. You can review the dress code on our web site or pick up a copy from Joni at the front desk.

There was also discussion concerning our Spring Break. The break approved by the board is Thursday, April 5; Friday, April 6; and Monday, April 9. Some calendars that went home did not include the Monday and Iron county school district has a break from Wednesday through Friday. Remember that our break will be Thursday – Monday, April 5- April 9. Kids are back in school on Tuesday, April 10.

This is a busy time of year as we work to finish strong and prepare for next year. Watch for field trip announcements and special activities taking place in all our classes.  I hope you have received an invitation to our Montessori open house this Friday, March 23 and those of you not traveling with the band and orchestra this weekend have a chance to stop by.

Our teachers are working hard to partner with you as parents in offering an excellent education to our students. We are excited and proud of all that they are doing. Thank you for your great support and for being a part of our school. Please share your positive experiences with your neighbors and invite them to stop by our open house.
