PHAN Meeting Minutes, March 2012

PHAN Agenda-March 15th 1:30-3:00 pm

Montessori Thought- “..someone who is in authority, or who is over us like at teacher, should come up and offer
us a medal or some other prize, he would rob us of our true reward.”

Administration report-not here
Treasurer report
• Reimbursement- Chelsea Garder for glue and baggies for Dr Seuss day to make gak.
6-9 report- We are doing great, Dr. Seuss was great. Students are on the ball and happy. No Playmakers this
spring. Mrs. Waldman is trying to get Shakespeare in schools here at Gateway.
9-12 report- Heather not here
12-15 report- Becky not here
Garden- Shannon gone, tulips should be coming up.
Pres report Phan Elections, April 16th-19th, applications due by April 4th- Flyer to go out March 21st (each of us
need to recruit 3 people, that are willing to be on the PHAN board.
Chelsea will do 6-9 VP again next year. She does 5 main activities during the year with help from room parents.
Need to work on president elect.
Review Bylaws- Financial policy. Kati would like to change the by-laws to reflect having two adults present at all
times and will count out the cash at the end of the event. Add on to treasurer or designee to count out cash at the
end of all events/fundraisers.
Should we order School Polos with new logo in Red and Blue?? We will do this next year.
Expo March 23rd – Kati has trained 11 kids on how to give school tours. Amy and Kati and Mr. Lee and Andy will
be here. Tours will start in Teacher’s lounge, Amy Rice is doing posters. Kati will think about pictures for around
the school.
Aquatic Center Night- we had 453 RSVP and 282 come.
Lounge area ideas/Tiffanie will take over this idea. We need to do some Montessori quotes and photographs
around the school.
Music dept wants/neets – not addressed.
Hometown heroes rather than or as part of patriotic wall.
Music Concert: March 16th need help selling popcorn – Amy Rice and Amy Farnsworth will be there to help Kati.
Fundraising: March Business, Midvalley Pizza? We do best at Dairy Queen and Panda Express. We still need
money for fieldtrips. Do we want to do McDonalds or Wendys? No Nonsense Fundraising- Ask each parent $35
per student and never again. Amy Farnsworth will consider doing this job. Sell stuff? Need for field trips
Candy machines are still for sale $25 each. Businesses are being asked to purchase them. We need money for
sand in soccer fields. Yard sale, we would need to get this together as soon as possible. We have a poster for it
somewhere.
Calendar
3rd grade field trip Monday March 26th 9-12. 54 3rd graders are going to the farm. You are welcome to come.
Teacher appreciation week May 7-11, Heather will help with this.
2nd grade field trip Wed May 2, 12:30-2:30- Firehouse.
6-9 field trip – looking for a fieldtrip. Called Frontier Homestead about availability.
Kindergarten wants to go to Lin’s for a tour.
12-15 fieldtrip – want to go May 3 to Zions Natioal Park.
Field Day-last week of school. What day do we want to do this? May 29 and 30?
