GPA PTO Meeting Minutes-July 15th

Those present: Mr. Lee, Wendy Taylor, Kati Meyers, Tiffany Matthews, Nicole Inman

  1. Public Comments- (2 min max)–NA
  2. Approval of minutes from Previous meeting-yes
  3. President’s report- Kati-
  4. Communication—We need to have ONE newsletter each month, going home on the 1st Wed, with ALL of our info on it, rather than a separate newsletter from each level.—Have everything that you want on the Newsletter to Amy one week before the 1st Wed. of the month
  5. Carnival canceled in lieu of Walk-a-thon
  6. Samples-Free hand sanitizer samples from PTO Today, use at Walk-a-thon
  7. Handbook—changes made to our Name and Membership $$ due (see below) – volunteer forms will be reviewed and made available to PTO use by the end of Sept.
  8. Grants- find grants for the big ticket items that we need-playground resurfacing, sound system, etc
  9. Principal’s report- Mr. Lee—Suggested we change our name since we are not a “traditional PTO/PTA” — The motion was made to emphasis the GPA PHAN club slogan—Parents Helping As Needed—We will start this as of today
  10. Treasurer report- We received $168 from Lin’s—mention this is 1st newsletter
  11. Reimbursement requests-Wendy-$120 for the float and balloons, Kati-$12.41 for bottled water and posters—parades—approved, Kati charged $81 at Image Pro for fliers
  12. We need to put a statement in our Bylaws about what the GPA PHAN club is willing to spend money on—example- “Funds raised by the GPA PHAN club will be used for learning experiences for the students at GPA, and must be approved by the majority of the PHAN club officers. ie. Playground equipment, activities for our children, Teacher Appreciation, classroom library.—(How can we word this better?)
  13. Unfinished business- PTO Membership dues-Kati made the motion to dissolve the term about $5 membership dues in the bylaws—all parents with students at GPA are members–approved
  14. 24th of July 9:30-3:30-in Cedar, Dunking booth—Main Street Park- need 4 more volunteers to take a shift
  15. 24th of July Parade 3:30 pm –Enoch-Need 6 people to Meet at the church west of Enoch Elementary at 3 pm to help fill balloons
  16. Back to school night- Aug. 5th at 7 pm and Aug. 19th – We will have a table with volunteer opportunities for parents—each VP needs to have a sign-up list in each classroom- Get with Gaelynn to discuss Room Parents
  17. Fall family fun night- walk-a-thon, dinner, Desserts separate- have parents bringSeptember 17th or 24th — Play Ground Equipment-Goal- How much $$ do we need? –Assembly?—Wall-ball, targets, kickball field-backstops
