Montessori Monday: Students as Leaders

At Gateway, the classroom belongs to the students. This "Montessori Monday," we’re highlighting a beautiful moment of peer-to-peer learning. Instead of a teacher at the front of the room, we see a student taking the lead, sharing a story with her classmates. 📖

This encourages confidence, develops public speaking skills, and fosters a deep sense of community. When children teach one another, they aren't just learning a subject—they’re learning how to lead.

Our 8th graders had a busy and inspiring Friday! We were thrilled to host representatives from Launch High School and Success Academy, who shared all the incredible opportunities awaiting our students next year.

We were so impressed by our students’ insightful questions and their genuine enthusiasm for what’s next. It’s clear the future is bright for this group! 🌟

January 23rd @10am, CHS and CVHS will be here.

SUPERSTAR SATURDAY: The Secret Life of Teachers! 🏎️💥

Believe it or not, our teachers don’t actually sleep in their classrooms! When the weekend hits, some trade their lesson plans for a roll cage and a helmet.
Today, we’re catching up with the incredible Bobbi Smith! While we know her for her amazing work at Gateway, her "wild" side is pure high-octane adrenaline.

The Bobbi Smith Field Guide:
• The Origin Story: Bobbi got hooked on demolition derby 20 years ago when she started dating her husband. Within six months, she was already stripping cars, grinding, and painting! 🛠️
• The Adrenaline: She’s survived a lot on the track—including a race where her car caught fire and the transmission exploded! But she says the real rush is that moment right before the flag drops when you think, "Why did I agree to this?!" * The Highlights: Her favorite memory? Taking home 1st and 2nd place alongside her husband in Parowan. Talk about a power couple! 🏆
• The New Chapter: These days, the helmets are retired, but the tools aren't. They’ve traded the track for their new hobby: rebuilding a '71 bump-side Ford.

"The real love of derby comes from the long hours of building with people who’ve become family... and the trash talking, of course!" — Mrs. Smith 🎤

🗣️ SHARE YOUR STORY:
Have you ever spotted a Gateway teacher "in the wild"? Maybe at the grocery store or cruising in a vintage Ford? 🍿👇 Tell us where you’ve had a teacher sighting in the comments!
