About Gateway
“Our mission is to provide children an individualized education emphasizing practical life skills and demonstrations of student learning in a safe, respectful, and supportive environment.”
Gateway Preparatory Academy provides Iron County students from Kindergarten to 8th grade an education that focuses on individual skills, abilities, and needs.
Established in 2008, we provide an individualized experience focused on student growth while preparing students to be productive members of the community.
Our strengths include our child centered approach through the application of a Montessori philosophy and method as well as a focus on the arts and technology.

Wait... is that a drumbeat we hear coming from Main Street Park? 🥁✨
If you thought our teachers only marched to the beat of a school bell, think again! Today, we’re spotting another Gateway superstar "in the wild," and this time, Mrs. Jackson is bringing the rhythm to Cedar City!
When she’s not at Gateway, Mrs. Jackson trades her lesson plans for drums. After falling in love with the hypnotic energy of a campfire drum circle back in 2019, she knew she had to bring those "good vibrations" home to our community.
The "Wild" Rhythm Report on Mrs. Jackson:
• 🌍 The Inspiration: A week-long ancestral skills camp where she fell in love with the hypnotic sounds of the group circle.
• ⚡ The Vibe: She loves how a group of people—musicians or not!—can synchronize into a unified rhythm in just minutes. It’s all about belonging and connection.
• 🧘 The Benefits: Did you know drumming reduces stress and boosts your mood? No musical experience required!

Our Kindergarten and 1st-grade students had a "tooth-tastic" visit! We were so excited to welcome a dental expert to our classroom to teach us all about the importance of dental health.
The kids had a front-row seat to learning how to keep their pearly whites shining bright.

Mrs. Corry’s class is currently exploring the wonders of South America, and last week they got a first-hand look at Argentina! We were so lucky to have a set of guest parents visit to share their knowledge and culture with our students.
The students didn't just learn about the beautiful landmarks and geography—they also got a "taste" of the country! They had a blast making (and eating!) delicious Alfajores, a traditional Argentinian cookie treat filled with dulce de leche. 🍪✨
Learning comes to life when our community gets involved. A huge thank you to our guest speakers for bringing the spirit of Argentina to Gateway!

School Hotline Reporting
Gateway Preparatory Academy is committed to transparency, accountability, and ethical practices. A hotline is maintained by the Internal Audit Department of the Utah State Board of Education, and it is a venue for citizens, educators, employees, and other stakeholders to request audits or report concerns related to any of the agencies governed by or provided resources by the Utah State Board of Education.

Complaints or concerns can be filed by following the process as outlined here. Hotline complaints go directly to the State Board of Education Internal Audit Department and may be referred back to the LEA.
Gateway Preparatory Academy also encourages anyone concerned to reach out to the school administration when appropriate. All complaints are handled with discretion, and any individual submitting a concern may remain anonymous through the USBE hotline system.
