Gateway Preparatory Academy provides Iron County students from Kindergarten to 8th grade an education that focuses on individual skills, abilities, and needs.
Established in 2008, we provide an individualized experience focused on student growth while preparing students to be productive members of the community.
Our strengths include our child centered approach through the application of a Montessori philosophy and method as well as a focus on the arts and technology.
Our Pledge
As learners at Gateway Preparatory Academy, we pledge to act with caring; integrity and purpose, to self-govern and be resourceful. We commit to be actively engaged in learning, respect our learning environment, and the learning process of others.

It’s time for another #TeachersInTheWild feature! This week, we’re hitting a high note with the talented Mrs. Esplin! 🎻✨
We sat down to learn a little more about her musical journey:
• How long have you been playing the violin?
Mrs. Esplin started her journey back in 5th grade! She has been sharing her gift with the world for 21 years now. 🎶
• Do you have a favorite style of music?
She’s all about energy! Mrs. Esplin loves playing fiddle music and Lindsey Stirling hits—her absolute favorite to perform is Roundtable Rival. But, she still has a soft spot for a deep, emotional classical piece. 🎼
• Where is your favorite place you’ve ever performed?
She’s no stranger to the big stage! She once performed a solo for over 800 people at Cedar City’s Star Search. These days, you can find her doing what she loves most: playing in the pit orchestra for our local community theatre! 🎭
We are so lucky to have such a rockstar (or should we say, fiddlestick star?) on our team!

Gateway Preparatory Academy is committed to transparency, accountability, and ethical practices. A hotline is maintained by the Internal Audit Department of the Utah State Board of Education, and it is a venue for citizens, educators, employees, and other stakeholders to request audits or report concerns related to any of the agencies governed by or provided resources by the Utah State Board of Education.

Complaints or concerns can be filed by following the process as outlined here. Hotline complaints go directly to the State Board of Education Internal Audit Department and may be referred back to the LEA.
Gateway Preparatory Academy also encourages anyone concerned to reach out to the school administration when appropriate. All complaints are handled with discretion, and any individual submitting a concern may remain anonymous through the USBE hotline system.
